American Indian Education Program,
Los Angeles Unified School District
Eligibility -- The Student or one of the parents/grandparents must be of American Indian/Alaskan Ancestry/Heritage. The Student must be enrolled in a Los Angeles Unified School District school and have an eligibility form (506) filed with the American Indian Education Title VII Program Office.
Schedule of Program Activities – California Standards inked literacy and visual arts activities are offered for eligible American Indian Students weekly at participating schools sites.
Annual Student Art Show--- Students are brought to the Autry National Center for the annual Student Art Show and participate in culturally related visual arts workshops.
Annual Student Recognition Day -- Students are recognized for accomplishments that they have achieved during the school year.
Partnership – We partner with other American Indian Organizations to enhance Healthy Lifestyles. Students are referred for tutoring, cultural awareness classes, teen pregnancy and drug/alcohol awareness.
Conference Participation- Staff and Parents have the opportunity to attend State and National American Indian Educational Conferences.
Parent Committee -- Parent participation in monthly meetings at the Autry National Center (4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles, Ca 90027) on the first Tuesday of each month. Potluck is served at 6:00 pm. Meeting is conducted from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
